1. ADJECTIVES Indiana Standards 4.5.5 & 4.6.3

2. Adjectives  An Adjective is a word that describes a noun or pronoun.  Adjectives answer these 3 questions:  What kind?  How many?  Which one? They can describe color, shape, size, sound, taste, touch, smell, or can be a number.

3. Article Adjectives  Another kind of adjective is call an Article Adjective.  A, An, The are called articles.  A is used when a word begins with a consonant. A kangaroo hopped quickly around the zoo.  An is used then the word begins with a vowel. An animal that hops is a kangaroo.

4. Proper Adjectives  Proper adjectives are formed from proper nouns.  Japan, Mexico, and India are proper nouns.  Japanese, Mexican, and Indian are proper adjectives because they describe a person and are a name.
