What is an Adverb? An adverb modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. An adverb answers the questions how, where, when, why,how often, to what extent, and how much.

Where to place an adverb. An adverb that modifies an adjective or another adverb is placed before the word. An adverb that modifies a verb can be placed after the verb, before the verb, or at the beginning of the sentence.

Intensifiers Intensifiers are adverbs that modify adjectives or other adverbs. They are usually placed before the words they modify. They usually answer the question to what extent. almostextremlyreallysousually especiallynearlyquitetoovery

Word endings Adverbs usually end in the letters -ly to adjectives. Sometimes the base word changes when - ly is added. suddenAdd -lysuddenly trueDrop the e and add -ly truly heavyChange the y to i and add -ly heavily

Some examples for you to solve 1) The doors to the junior high school open (easy, easily). 2) To win the World Series, a team must play (real, really) well. 3) The valedictorian recited her speech (perfect, perfectly). 4) Effective student body officers take their job (serious, seriously).
