2 Confusing adjectives and adverbs Adjectives Bad Good The sound for the movie is bad. The band sounds good. Notice that these sentences all have linking verbs.

3 Adverbs Badly Well The actor sang badly. The band played well. Notice that these sentences both have action verbs.

4 Adjectives Real Sure Most Adverbs Really Surely Almost Music is a real art. Music is really popular. A dentist needs sure hands. Piano music is surely popular. Most guitars have six strings. Those pencils almost always break.

5 Exercise 13, page 470 Choose the correct adj. or adv. For each sentence. 1. The big bands did very (good, well) during the 1930’s. 2. As (good, well) as they were, they needed national radio to succeed. 3. Even (bad, badly) bands took advantage of the interest in this music. 4.The big bands’ era is over, but their records still sell (good, well). 5.If you listen really (good, well), you’ll still hear bands with that sound.
