3. Key features This program can…. –Scan and read documents out loud –Fast forward/rewind and pause –Look up definitions and synonyms –Sound out the syllables and spell the word

4. Getting Started Step 1: Click on the Kurzweil 300 icon on the desktop Step 2: To open a document- click the open button on the tool bar

5. Getting Started Continued… Step 3: Click on the document you would like to open. You can open any document (Word, Excel, Email, PDF or Webpage)

6. Getting Started Continued… Step 4: Once your document has appeared on the screen click the read icon on the toolbar. At any time you can pause the reading or go back and forward. By simply clicking on the icons located on the toolbar above.

7. Using the Definitions Feature While reading your text if you stubble upon a word you are unsure of this program can look up the word for you. Click on the definition icon on the toolbar. The definition of the word will then display. If you wish for the computer to read you the definition then click read on the toolbar.

8. Using the Synonyms Feature While reading your text if you stubble upon a word and wish to know the synonym of the word, then this program can look up the synonym for you. Click on the synonym icon on the toolbar. The synonym of the word will then appear. If you wish for the computer to read you the synonym then click read on the toolbar

9. Using the Syllables Feature If you stumble upon a word and wish to have the program sound it out with the syllables then click the syllable icon on the toolbar. The syllable will appear and if you wish for the computer to pronounce the syllable then click the pronounce button

10. Using the Spelling Feature If you stumble upon a word and wish to have the program spell it out then click the spell icon on the toolbar. The spell dialog box will come up and the program will automatically pronounce the spelling.

11. Troubleshooting with in Kurzweil If you have any questions you can click on the help icon on the toolbar. The help dialog box will then appear and you can then search for answers to your questions.

12. Troubleshooting Continued… If the program is not working: 1. Reboot the computer 2. Try it on another computer 3. Ask Rebecca, Elizabeth or Kirsten for help
