2 2 Geresh Geresh is Level 4 Disjunctive So will usually come before sequence with Level 3 disjunctive Sometimes before another sequence with Level 4 disjunctive Used only if accent is NOT on the last syllable Sometimes preceded by Kadmah (conjunctive)

3 3 Kadma v’Azlah These two notes are dropped by Cantor Barugel and PocketTorah. v’Azlah is Level 4 Disjunctive So will usually come before sequence with Level 3 disjunctive Sometimes before another sequence with Level 4 disjunctive v’Azlah is used only on words accented on last syllable and if preceded by closely connected word (conjunctive Kadmah) and if preceding word is NOT accented on 1 st syllable Some authorities call v’Azlah Geresh and/or sing it like Geresh

4 4 Gershayim Gershayim is Level 4 Disjunctive So will usually come before sequence with Level 3 disjunctive Sometimes before another sequence with Level 4 disjunctive Used only if accent on the last syllable AND No preceding closely connected word or preceding closely connected word accented on 1 st syllable Conjunction (munach) used if prior word connected & accented on 1st syllable If prior connected word NOT accented on 1 st syllable, then Kadmah v’Azlah

5 5 Zakef Gadol Level 2 disjunctive So usually followed by Katon sequence or Tippchah sequence Used only on short words (only one or two syllables before the accent) Used only on first word of sentence or on first word after Etnachtah or on first word after Katon
