2. Objectives: ● For Nurses to be familiar with standing medication often started in ER that are controlled-released drugs. e.g. Klaricid and Klaricid OD ● To ensure safe and effective Drug encoding and administration.

3. Control-Released-Drugs These are drugs that are specially formulated either for extended effect of medication or for faster absorption.

DRUGS......... ● Klaricid OD – 500mg – (+) Extended Release – Longer Half-life – Given ONCE a day ● Klaricid – 500mg – Given twice a day ● Aspirin EC – 80mg – Enteric Coated – DO NOT chew/crush – Swallow whole – Absorbed in Intestine NOT in stomach – Causes gastric irritation – Given ONCE a day – “Aspilets EC” ● Aspirin – 80mg – Chewable
