It CAN involved forgiveness, but does it have to? Always thinking of others’ needs It’s about compassion and empathy You should not do something merciful to expect something in return Acting merciful towards others shows a direct love of God!

Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Mercy: Why is it important? Our mercy reflects God’s love for sinners. Therefore as Christians we must care for others too The REWARD is that we too obtain mercy In the Lord’s prayer we say “forgive us our trespasses, as…”

How Can I Be Merciful? Where? At School, Home, Church, with Friends How? I can think about others’ needs I can pray for those needs If I see someone in school who needs a friend or needs help, I can give it I can help my family around the house When someone hurts me or does something bad to me, I can practice making excuses. I can try to see what it would be like if I was in their shoes and figure out why they acted that way
