WHAT ARE GREENWAYS?

A global grassroots or community-based movement, which involves business, government and non-governmental organizations working together for sustainable development Multi-functional corridors for non-motorized transport developed and organized by local people Promoters of environmentally-friendly tourism, healthy life- styles and quality-of-life improvements for both locals and visitors Natural and cultural heritage are resources for local products, local enterprise Local partnerships enable risks, costs and benefits to be shared for the sustainable development of the region as a whole Open source, open access enables sustainability --- no one is in charge!
