2. objectives To provide a clean, comfortable sleeping and resting environment for the client. To eliminate irritants to the skin by providing wrinkle-free sheets. To avoid client discomfort when making an occupied bed. To properly dispose of bed linens to prevent cross contamination.

3. ASSESSMENT Assess client’s need for linen change. Determine if client’s condition allow for linen change. Determine type and amount of linen necessary for a linen change. Check client’s room for linen to ensure only necessary linen is brought into room. Assess client’s ability and restrictions in turning during bedmaking. Assess client’s ability to get out of bed during linen change.
