Theoretical Foundation: Critical Literacy Critical Literacy is a key component of multiliteracies and involves: identifying what is taken for granted within the text or what it is asking us to identify as taken for granted in society considering and explore multiple perspectives with respect to texts placing texts within their socio-political context discussing ways of addressing the issue presented in the text in order to promote equity and social justice (Lewisnson, Flint, and Van Sluys, 2002) Copyright © 2013 Nelson Education Ltd. 14
