THE BREAK-OUT OPPORTUNITIES OF THE HUNGARIAN RAILWAYS 7 GOALS AND DEADLINES FOR THE RFC SYSTEM Objectives Establishment of nine rail fright corridors on the basis of ERTMS and TEN-T corridors Strengthening the cooperation between the Infrastructure Managers Development of quality of rail fright corridors, capacity increase Provision of good quality services for the rail freight companies Dates 6 corridors have started to operate until 10 November 2013 3 further corridors will start to operate until 10 November 2015 3 RFC CORRIDORS

THE BREAK-OUT OPPORTUNITIES OF THE HUNGARIAN RAILWAYS 9 BENEFITS OF THE RFC CORRIDORS Predefined train paths From the initial questions related to network access to corridor path requests – all these issues are handled by one contact point (”One-Stop-Shop”) In case of corridor train paths, priority rules applied in the event of track works Priority for the corridor freight trains Uniform set of communication rules used between the traffic control centers Infrastructure developments taking the whole corridor into consideration Increasing interoperability: locomotives can travel from Zahony to Almeria Connection among the ports of the Mediterranean Sea and Central-Europe and broad gauge network 3.
