8.  Inscription on front door:  Jedem das Seine = Everyone gets what he deserves.  Was not a “death camp” like Auschwitz.  Most died from malnourishment (not eating enough food) and being over-worked.  About 55,000 deaths (25% of the total population).  Liberated (freed) on April 4 th 1945. Buchenwald

13.  Elie and his father ride a train to their new camp in Buchenwald. People assume Elie’s father is dead because he is not moving. The people on the train fight for bread. Night, Chapter 7
