You can become a photographer that collects permanent record of crime scenes to help solve cases in court. Detectives and prosecutors rely on the photographic evidence.

Permanent image of the crime scene; must have an eye for detail to spot even the smallest piece of evidence. They need to have the ability to work in a variety of sometimes challenging conditions. Communication skills needed. Encounter potentially dangerous evidence such as weapons, broken glass or bodily fluids. Psychological toll.

Get an education; pre-law, law enforcement, and/or forensic science. Also, have an education in photography. Have an understanding to law-enforcement. No matter how talented you are, you must get accredited training in photography and the recording of physical evidence. Get any special training necessary to be accepted as an expert in court and also you need verbal skills to present yourself clearly and authoritatively.

An educational background in science or forensics and photography is required to achieve your best salary. Individuals will study forensics, science or criminology in college and better their photographic skills at night school or community college.

Average annual salary for a forensic photographer in the United States is $62,000. Salary will depend upon experience, location and the nature of their employer. These will also affect the benefits package they receive. Could hold positions with sheriff's or coroner's offices.. these employers usually offer a good benefits and pension package to their employees. Forensic photographers may find work with private organizations, such as hospitals or law firms that require documentation of evidence in their cases. They can do freelance work.
