School for Social Care Research Issues Raised by Research  Practice lacks clarity and consistency, raises issues:  Is carer inclusion in SU assessments enough?  Are questions about carers ‘willingness and ability’ adequate to assess carer needs?  Is it appropriate to expect local authorities to do separate carer assessments?  If carer needs only assessed in SU assessments, what happens when carer needs change independently to SU?  Are carers really treated equally? 17
