3  We need to be able to recognise neglect  Teenagers are Children until they are 18 – CA 1989 WORKING TOGETHER TO SAFEGUARD CHILDREN MARCH 2010

4 basic care ensuring safety emotional warmth stimulation guidance and boundaries stability.

5  When we recognise teenage neglect we need to make a child protection referral

6 Our roles include direct help and raising awareness. Effective teams have the following characteristics:  ‘co-location to co-participation’  time  leadership  team-building  shared protocols

7 6 point plan:  Know and agree what neglect is  Understand the causes – ie the assessment triangle  Understand the consequences  Sort out what agency is doing what  Explore what interventions might help  Reflect and evaluate
