The centre of Roosendaal In the city centre are the indoor shopping centres, Roselaar, Biggelaar and Passage. There are many (fun) stores such as clothing stores, toy stores, and of course, there are also supermarkets! Here you can see one of the indoor Shopping centres, the Passage. →

Saint Nicholas In Netherlands we all put our shoe since the 15th century. They did that it in the Church. Today we do it at home. When Saint Nicholas was very young he was Bishop of Myra, a city in Turkey. Most people say that Saint Nicholas comes from Spain. But as you maybe will know, he comes from Turkey!

Carnival The Egyptians, Romans and Greeks celebrated a Spring Festival. This party was meant to chase away evil winter spirits and to welcome the spring. When it’s Carnival in Roosendaal, Roosendaal named Tullepetaonestad. It’s a funny name! Each year a Prince, Sjampetter and Nar is chosen. They are the important persons of the Carnival!

Christmas At Christmas we celebrate the birth of Jesus. The celebrating of Christmas is always at the end of December in the holidays. At New Years day we celebrate the coming new year (now 2014) We celebrate this at 31 December and 1 January This evening we count down to 0:00. We drink champagne and we eat deep-fried doughnuts. We wish everyone a happy new year. We also speak out good intentions for the next year.
