8. The Hungarian national anthem  The text of the Hungarian national anthem was written in 1823 by Ferenc Kölcsey (1790-1838).  The music was composed by the composer and conductor Ferenc Erkel (1810-1893) in 1844.  Only the first stanza is normally played or sung on official occasions.
