1
Life Science, what? Products which serve human health care Product’s source is Asian herbal traditional medicine Herbs extract The extract is marketed to end-stage companies in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic or food supplement market unique technology
2
Products 95% pure extract from the leaves of the Ginkgo biloba tree; GinkgoTerp® R&D: Immune stimulators Anti-oxidizing agents Anticancer steroïds
3
GinkgoTerp® Because of the different constituents, this extract can affect various systems in the human body In general, GinkgoTerp® is a perfect prophylaxis for the body under strain or where the body is decreasingly able to recover from it, such as Sports Stress Ageing Atherosclerosis Memory impairment Alzheimer’s disease Parkinson’s disease
4
Bioactivity: flavonoïds and terpenelactones Flavonoïds are free-radical scavengers. Since flavonoïds are also available in dietary products, the additional effect of the amount in the normal extract is considered to be not significant. Terpene trilactones are known to block three receptors (GABA -, Glycine – and Platelet Activating Factor receptors) and act on mitochondria throughout the whole body. Effects of GBE are largely attributed to these compounds
5
Mode of action Alzheimer’s disease Parkinson’s disease Mood/anxiety Cancer progression Cognitive function Neuronal damage Cardiovascular Atherosclerosis Erectile dysfunction GABA GLY PAF Gk A+B Gk B Bil Gk A mitochondria
6
Disappointing results of Ginkgo studies Ginkgo shows a clear positive effect on vascular disorders with 240mg a day Intermittent claudation Vascular dementia No positive results from clinical studies regarding Alzheimer’s disease An inadequate dosage regimen could be the cause Estimation of the correct dosage regimen is a must!
7
Dosage regimen(1) Tablets/capsules have to be taken 0.5h before the meal to obtain a desired blood-level Tablets/ capsules have to be taken at two or three different time points per day Tablets/capsules have to be non- enteric coated
8
Dosage regimen(2) Based on the pharmacology of the active constituents, following doses are advised: vascular disorders: 120/7.5 mg, twice a day* memory impairment: 240/15 mg, twice a day* neurodegenerative diseases: 360/22.5 mg, thrice a day* * EGb761/GinkgoTerp®
9
GinkgoTerp® vs. EGb761 95% terpenelactones NO flavonoids 5% undefined 7.5 mg extract to achieve effect 6% terpenelactones 24% flavonoids 70% undefined 120 mg extract to achieve effect 16 times less
10
Why are we the best? Competitors produce a 30% pure product, GinkgoTerp® is a 95% pure product of the active compounds Based on terpenelactones-content, we produce 16 times purer extract than competitors GinkgoTerp® Competitors
11
Co-formulations Since GinkoTerp® is added in much less mg’s as competitive extracts, co-formulation is an excellent option For instance with: Sports: Magnesium, Potassium, Zinc Stress/Concentration: Vitamin B1 and 3 Ageing: Vitamins (B1,3,9, C, E)
12
Principle of production Excellent quality of raw material continuity, method of harvesting and drying A unique production process for extract with high purity level
13
What’s in it for you? A 16x purer extract/new formula means: You get your money’s worth 95% instead of 6% terpenelactones-content Competitive price setting which creates a win-win situation Less side effects less undefined compounds, 5% vs. 70% undefined Smaller dose needed in formulation 16 times less mg’s needed e.g. 7.5mg GinkgoTerp® vs. 120mg EGb761 Increasing convenience for consumer smaller tablets/capsules; easier to swallow Excellent to use in co-formulations 16 times less mg’s needed No colorization snow-white appearance
