24 How to Use Sliding Scale Insulin Sliding scale insulin can be effective IF used appropriately Never use sliding scale alone (unless for 1 to 2 days to get idea of insulin requirements) Should be used in addition to oral agents or long acting insulin NEVER NEVER NEVER use sliding scale alone in patient with TYPE 1 DIABETES
