3 3 INTRODUCTION Workshop goals - we would like you to accept these concepts: Children and teenagers are taking many risks in theirs activities without realizing the consequences. Tragic consequense examples may motivate them to think about their life, responsibility and life values.

9 9 RISKY ACTIVITIES Friends and commerce has greater influence than parents and teachers. CAUSE ACTIVITY CONSEQUENSES Personality forming - inner frontiers examination, fear overrunning - „I can handle this“ proving, „I am adult enough“ - to be different from others, to be interesting, to have unusual experiences - laziness, unattention, impatience To untie from parents- not accepting parental guidence - revolt, restriction disrespect, not using safety gadgets - family situation, family culture - disrespect from adults, lack of love, interest, understanding To be part of some group - group pressure, to be respected member, strong status, position in group - to yield respect of friends, admiration of girsl Media, adds, virtual reality- young peaple are commercial targets, the are easily influenceable

10 10 RISKY ACTIVITIES What determines risk taking behavior of young people?  Who is the ideal for them, from whom the take behavior patterns?  How the groups are formed?  What values among teenagers? Who is considered succesfull among them?  What young people lack in their life, at home?  What examples makes adults for them?  What is real? What is only an commercial ilusion?

12 12 Personal responsibility and knowledge of consequenses are the keys for prevention. Consequences of risk taking beahviour can influence the whole life, lifes of other people. Some experiences, activities and values are more valueable than minute excitement or a second of carelessness My decisions, not a chance asses my future life. I am responsible not only for my life, but also for lives of others The consequense way of prevention WAYS OF PREVENTION

13 13 Personality building is the other key for prevention. to realize the value of my life, my health, my price to settle my personal values, my future visions and intentions to be able to say no, to solve conflicts, to respect views and feelings of others to offer interesting, attractive and positive activities to build bonds, contacts, relationships to be a good example for young people WAYS OF PREVENTION The cause way of prevention

14 14 Risk taking behavior can be prevented. It depends on school, parents, young people themselves, their ideals, models. Knowledge of tragic consequences is essential, as well as personality building and self-knowledge. It is important to build open and friendly relationship to young people with mutual respect and trust. RISK TAKING BEHAVIOR - SUMMARY
