DIALOGUE Two or more characters talking

MONOLOGUE One character making a long speech

SOLILOQUY A special monologue where the character is alone on stage (or isolated) and expresses his or her inner thoughts

ASIDE A quick private comment or chat between two characters, or a character and the audience, or the character and himself

STAGE DIRECTION/ IMBEDDED STAGE DIRECTION Stuff that tells the actor how to move, enter, exit, etc. Imbedded stage directions are in the lines themselves

DRAMATIC IRONY When the audience knows something the characters do not

TRAGIC HERO A character (usually in Shakespeare) that is better than the average man. However, he fails due to his tragic flaw.

TRAGIC FLAW The character flaw (greed, ambition, procrastination) the tragic hero has that causes his downfall.
