Student Advisor for the 2013-14 school year. Experienced in individual and group counseling, college counseling, and career exploration counseling. Other interesting details about me: Fortunate enough to play Professional Baseball after college. Holds 6 school records at Westminster College.

7 Tasks of a College Bound Senior  Identify potential major and college pathway - 4 year college - 2 year community/technical college - 2 year community college, and then transfer to 4 year school  Take SAT/ACT  Apply to schools of your choice  Research grants and scholarships  Visit schools  Select a school

8 Applying to college  Step 1: Visit the school’s website Research school’s admission requirements Research the application deadline Research materials needed (transcript/SAT scores/etc.)  Step 2: Complete the online or paper application Usually includes an essay (It’s good to write one good essay and use it for all your applications) Pay the application fee  Step 3: Request Records Request Official Transcript to be sent by Advisor Send SAT/ACT scores

9 Senior Timeline September: Identify Potential Schools - Make a list of 3 schools. - Register for SAT or ACT October: Take SAT or ACT (Hopefully 2 nd or 3 rd attempt) - SAT Test: Oct. 11 th (Register by Sept. 12 th ) - Late registration: Sept. 30 th - ACT Test: Oct. 25 th (Register by Sept. 19 th ) - Late registration: Oct. 3 rd - Important to send scores to schools you’re potentially interested in.

10 Senior Timeline ext……… November: - Complete all College Applications by Thanksgiving. Either individual colleges or Common Application Questions about the Common Application? December: - Visit schools you’re interested in. January: - Begin the FAFSA process. (www. fafsa.ed.gov)

11 Senior Timeline ext……… February: - Research scholarships and write an essay March-April: - Narrow college choices down to 2. - Take another college visit. May: - Decide on the school you’ll be attending June: -GRADUATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
