Study Design Prospective study for axial length measurement comparison between PalmScan & IOL Master. Prospective study for axial length measurement comparison between PalmScan & IOL Master. 74 consecutive eyes of patients for presbyopia correcting IOLs between January 19, 2007 & October 17, 2007. 74 consecutive eyes of patients for presbyopia correcting IOLs between January 19, 2007 & October 17, 2007. Three eyes were eliminated-could not be measured with IOL Master V 3.02 software & 5.02 software. One eye was successfully measured with V. 5.02 when it could not be measured with V 3.02. 47 eyes were done with V 3.02 software and 24 eyes with V 5.02 software. Conclusion Axial length measurements by the PalmScan immersion ultrasound is comparable to the IOL Master and can be used when the IOL Master can not get an axial length measurement. Axial length measurements by the PalmScan immersion ultrasound is comparable to the IOL Master and can be used when the IOL Master can not get an axial length measurement. Immersion was needed in 4.1% (3/74). Immersion was needed in 4.1% (3/74). Immersion units are still need even if you have an IOL Master. Immersion units are still need even if you have an IOL Master.
