6. Types of primary groups The Family is the basic social unit in the society in which a group of people share the same dwelling place and are related by blood, economic ties or an interest in welfare of the members. Primary Groups

8. Socialization The process through which a child is taught how to behave in preparation for the social role he or she will adopt in adult hood. Primary Groups

9. Types of Families The Nuclear family is two parent and their children. Primary Groups Members share the same home and corporate for the benefit of all the family. Eg the daily task around the house are shared and every one is expected to make a contribution towards a happy family life.

13. Sibling Family A sibling family is family of children with no adults. Older children look after their younger sister and brothers when parents have migrate to find work and they are not part of a strong extended family. 14. The Blended Family This is a nuclear family in which two people who are already parents come together. They may have split up from their former partner or their first partner has died. Primary Groups

15. Peer Group A group of persons, usually the same age, with the same status and interests. Primary Groups

16. Peer Group Members are usually within the same age group and share similar interest and back ground. Children are exposed to another means of socialization when they start school. This means or agent is the peer group. Primary Groups
