8 Whales Types of Whales There are two types of whales. One type is the toothed whale and the other kind is the baleen whale. Toothed whales hunt food to eat such as fish or squid or even penguins. Baleen whales strain water through their baleen to get tiny creatures called krill to eat. Where Whales Live Whales live in oceans all over the earth. Some types of whales travel to many different places. Other whales stay in a small area. Beluga whales, for example, live in arctic waters. Many whales live in pods or groups. Sharks Types of Sharks There are many different kinds of sharks found all around the world. Some are large and some are small. Most live alone, but a few form groups similar to whale pods. Where Sharks Live Some sharks live in shallow waters and some sharks live in the deepest parts of the oceans.
