Pygmy Bryde’s Whale The Scientific name for Brydes whale is Balaenoptera edeni. Bryde's (pronounced "broodus") whales are members of the baleen whale family and are considered one of the "great whales" or rorquals. These rorquals can reach lengths of about 40-55 ft (13-16.5 m) and weigh up to about 90,000 lbs (40,000 kg). Males are usually slightly smaller than females.

Author Steve Schuch latest book, A Symphony of Whales, has received five national book awards. Steve is classically trained on violin, he is also a gifted singer/songwriter, guitarist and storyteller. He has delighted audiences from New England to Alaska, the Netherlands and the British Isles. Favorite Character Glashka is my favorite character in the story A Symphony of Whales. In the story is shows the love that Glashka have for the whales and how caring she is. She make sure that she does all that she can to save the whales.

Setting The story took place at Senyavin Strait of Siberia in the cold winter in 1984-1985.

Problem One day when Glashka was out riding on her sled with the dogs, she realizes thousands of starving beluga whales are trapped in the thick ice.

Solution The family sends out Russian icebreakers and people of the village worked together to keep the whales alive, comfort them, and lead them to freedom by using music.
