TEKS 5.8C

 5.8C Earth and space. The student knows that there are recognizable patterns in the natural world and among the Sun, Earth, and Moon system. The student is expected to demonstrate that Earth rotates on its axis once approximately every 24 hours causing the day/night cycle and the apparent movement of the Sun across the sky.

 TO get a complete full moon again, 30 days must pass  TALK ABOUT MOON CYCLE

 Shadows are shorter if the sun is directly over our head  Shadows are longer if the angle of the sun is to the N, S, E, or W of us.

 The Sun Rises in the east (sunrise) and sets in the west (Sunset)  Remember the sun isn’t really moving. The Earth is rotating on it’s axis (creating day and night cycles every 24 hours)  The Earth is also revolving around the sun experiencing one full revolution around the sun every 365 days

 Rotation = 24 hours (day and night cycle)  Remember Revolution is talking about revolving around an object like the sun. That takes 365 days.  **See the difference???

 Think about the hands of a clock. The shadow was produced and showing like 3pm.  If it was 9 am then it would be in the opposite direction of the shadow to the left of the tree
