Ur was rediscovered around 1850 by archaeologist Leonard Woolley. A ziggurat was being excavated when an inscription was found that said, “This was at Ur.”

According to some Jewish traditions, Shem is believed to have been Melchizedek, King of Salem whom Abraham is recorded to have met after the battle of the four kings. Shem was around 200 years of Abrahams life.

Was this inspired by Abraham’s Sacrifice? Archaeologist Leonard Woolley also found the “ram caught in the thicket.” It was made out of gold and silver. From an inscription a date of 2500 BC could be determined.

Isaac and Rebekah married. Isaac was 40 when Shem died at the age of 600.
