2 Example Prompts Describe a family celebration that has special meaning for you. – Example Thesis- A family celebration that has special meaning for me is Christmas because my family spends time together, eats great food, and shows how much they care. Describe the issues that led to the Civil War. – Example Thesis- The Civil War began as a result of the economic differences between the North and South, their opinions on state rights versus federal rights, and their views on slavery.

3 Example Prompts Explain the problems, both personal and societal, that result from obesity. – Sample Thesis: Obesity is a problem because it lowers self-esteem, lowers life-expectancy, and increases health care costs. Your new job requires that you move to a different city. Explain the steps you will take to prepare for this move. – Sample Thesis: If I were moving to a new city for a job, I would scout out different neighborhoods, carefully select an apartment, explore important places in the new area, and research services that I will need.
