3 Forms of Energy Energy comes in many forms, but they can be conveniently classified into three categories. Radiant Energy Kinetic Energy Potential Energy

4 What is radiant energy? Radiant energy is energy given off by the sun that can travel through empty space.

6 What is kinetic energy (KE)? Kinetic energy is energy in motion.

11 Law of Conservation of Energy The law of conservation of energy states that energy is neither created nor destroyed. It can be transformed from one kind of energy into another.

14 Measuring Energy Energy can be measured using: a.) Calorie (C)  the energy stored in food b.) calorie (cal)  the amount of heat needed to raise the temperature of 1g of water x 1°C c.) Joule (J)  SI unit of energy (1 cal = 4.184 J)
