Students will be able: to construct congruent triangles using digital and non-digital techniques.

Draw the following triangle. You will need a compass tool. Now produce a congruent image (triangle) of ABC using the compass and ruler method. AB C

Step 1: Step 1: Find a space to construct the new triangle. Begin with a point and name it D. Step 2: Measure the distance of side AB with a compass and scribe this with an arc from point D. Draw a horizontal line from D, then label the new point as E. D E

Step 3: Using the compass again, measure the distance of side BC and scribe with another arc around where C would lie. D E

Step 4: Measure the distance AC with the compass and use this to scribe a third arc over the second arc. This will identify the top vertex. Connect appropriate points to form the congruent triangle. Label the point F. DE F Conclude: ABC ≡ DEF
