Conflict in There’s A Boy in the Girl’s Bathroom
By Sally Sue Sample

The Conflict Bradley is trying to learn to get along with other people. Jeff, a new boy, starts being his friend but then makes other friends. Bradley is disliked by the students and even his teacher.

The Cause of Conflict Bradley causes the conflict because he feels bad about himself. He is afraid to try anything because he is sure he will fail. In order to avoid failing he just doesn’t do something (for instance, he never even tries to do the homework assignments) or he intentionally messes up and makes people not like him (like when he says pay me a dollar or I will spit on you).

The People in Conflict Bradley Chalkers is the problem kid. He is the oldest kid in fifth grade and does every bad thing he can think to do. Jeff Fishkin is the new boy who goes in the girls’ bathroom. There is also his teacher, Mrs.Ebbel and other students in the book, also. Carla is the guidance counselor.

The Solution The counselor helped Bradley learn to get along by helping him see that even a monster has good in him.

Other Solutions If I was Bradley, I might have tried some of these solutions: Punched everyone. Asked my parents to help me with it. Made more effort to be friendly to other children. Found new friends.
