Rules and Regulations
6
The Field of Play 10 yards 25 yards
7
Quarterback Calls “hike, hut, or set-go” when they are ready for the play to start. Needs to hand the ball off and pass the ball depending on the play called. Needs to know where everyone is going during the play.
8
Receivers Cannot begin their pass pattern until the ball is hiked. Will execute a route that is known by them and the Quarterback. Will make adjustments as needed. Block for the running back in the open field.
9
Running Backs Get the ball on a handoff from the Quarterback. Usually have good speed and can find holes to run through. Can use moves and ‘jukes’ to avoid would-be tacklers. May not jump, spin, stiff arm, or flag guard. Catch the ball on pass patterns.

Offensive Strategies 1. Misdirection - making a defense think a play is going one way, when it is actually going the other. 2. Play action - is a fake handoff designed to make the defense think the play is a run. The fake run helps the receivers be more open. 3. Use the run to set up the pass. 4. Use the pass to set up the run.

Defensive Strategies 1. Zone Defense - Guarding a specific area. If receivers enter your "zone" or area, you are responsible for them as long as they are in your zone. 2. Your zone defense can flip sides of the field after the offense comes out of their huddle. 3. Defense is only as good as your flag pulling. Be aggressive and try to pull flags every play. 4. Your team needs to have good communication and team work.
