1 Design and Construction of an Induction Furnace (Cooling System)
Presented By MG THANT ZIN WIN Roll No: Ph.D-M-7 3rd Seminar

2 Review on 2nd Seminar Types of Cooling Water System
- Open-circuit system with evaporative cooling tower - Fan radiator (closed-circuit) system - Dual system with Water/Water heat exchanger - Dual system with closed-circuit cooling- tower Selection of System

3 Presentation Outlines
Objective Coreless Induction Melting Water System 1. Evaporative Closed Loop Water System 2. Dry Air Closed Loop Water System Water System and Water Treatment Conclusion

4 Objective To study the coreless induction melting water system – Evaporative closed loop water system and Dry air closed loop water system To know the water related problems such as water quality, water purification and maintenance, filtration for induction melting system To give some knowledges of water system and water treatment for coreless induction furnace

5 Water Cooling Systems Evaporative Closed Loop Water System
Dry Air Closed Loop Water System

6 Evaporative Closed Loop Water System
Fig - General Diagram of the closed evaporative water system

7 Dry Air Closed Loop Water System
Fig – General Diagram of the closed dry cooler water system

8 Effects of Water Quality
Reduction in the ability to heat transfer Electrochemical corrosion of tubing Degradation of the electrical preference

9 Water Purification/Maintenance
Filtration No moving parts to wear out No screens, cartridges, cones or filter elements to replace No backwashing No routine maintenance or downtime requirements No standby equipment needs Low and steady pressure loss Easily automated

10 Water Requirements Water Supply Steady Supply of Water and Pressure
Emergency Water Supply - City water - Battery or generator powered emergency pump - Turbine pump - Elevated emergency water storage tank

11 Effects of Impurities Conductivity Hardness Suspended Solids Acidity
Alkalinity Slime and Algae biological fouling Dissolved oxygen and corrosion

12 Conclusion Water related problems may be over 50% of induction melting system downtime. The life of electrical conducting components relies heavily on the quality of water supplied by the water system.
