For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Claiming God’s Armor Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

Claiming God’s Armor and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Key Principle The Cost of Change

What are some implications of being transformed into the image and likeness of Jesus (Rom 8:29ff) and people’s overall resistance to change? Is it possible to remain the same and grow in Christ-likeness?

Key Principle: The Cost of Remaining the Same (Slow Death) must be greater than the Cost of the Change plus the First Steps of Change or change will not occur!!!

Cost of Remaining the Same (Slow Death) Cost of the Change(s) Plus 1 st Steps of the Change

Medical Illustration: Doctor: “Loose 40 pounds or you’ll have a heart attack w/in 12 to 18 months Man: “I’ll start tomorrow, NOT”

18 Months Later- Man is in ER with a mild heart attack Doctor: “Loose the 40 lbs or this time next year I’ll be dating your lovely wife!!! Not really, but someone will be!” Man: “So my choices are stay the same and die or loose weight and live?

Statistically- At this point, the average American male changes his diet and begins exercising. Cost of remaining the same, slow death, outweighs the Cost of Change!!!

THE REST OF THE STORY Statistically- Within two years, 85% of men revert back to former patterns of behavior and leave a widow for someone to date! Change is Hard!!

Biblical Illustration The Children of Israel faced genocide in Egypt. Yet, when God delivers them out of Egypt, what you they say when faced with challenges in the desert? Change is Hard!!

Are We Willing (Motivated) to Change? Are We Able (Skill) to Change?

Expressions of Change Regular Reflection on experiences to form concepts & apply learnings Discuss change principles & learnings with coach/mentor
