Presentation aims to… Explain some Computer Systems – aka 3 letter ac. Why do we need a GIS system? And how we did it. Look at the system itself. Advantages of the system. Holdings….. AIM. How Computer systems fit together. (Conceptually)

Why we need a GIS system??….. Why we need a GIS system??….. As TB is a contagious disease. (Wildlife) –Important to know full extent of Epidemiological unit/Herd/Holding. –Important to have contiguous herds and their cattle populations. –Important to understand geographical features and habitat e.g. land use and type, roadways, commonage, waterways, forestry. –Also to see how herds ‘fit’ into the landscape/geography –Represent/present maps in a coherent and user friendly way

Spatial Location….. Used to pinpoint exact location of farmhouse or premises. Can be used to create “spatial layer”

Holding…… Farm Shape Farm Shape is broken down into fragments. Fragments broken down into parcels. Parcels are roughly equivalent to fields. “herdnumber” is allocated to the “keeper” of a “herd” on a “holding” for the purposes of administering the TB and Brucellosis Eradication = Holding Number. E.G….

CMMS/AIM Requirement under 1760/2000 for a Central Database. We use that database: - –To generate profiles for TB test. –To ensure that all animals in herd are tested in compliance of 64/432. –To trace animals in the event of disease outbreaks.
