The times, they are a-changing! How has the foodservice industry grown over the past years? The following charts show the increasing trend for specifications using the term “gluten-free,” “whole-wheat,” or “biodegradable.” The following graph shows the number of line items on bids received by Interflex that included the term “gluten-free,” “whole-wheat,” or “biodegradable” during the 2007-2008 school year compared to our most current data:

The following chart shows the percent of all bids received by Interflex issued each month: Note: percentages for the current data may be slightly higher due to the fact that Interflex tracks more bids currently than in 2007. The graph below shows the percent of bids received by Interflex that were awarded by Prime Vendor vs. Line Item vs. Market Basket in the 2007 school year vs. the most current data:

The following chart shows the what percent of bids received by Interflex were awarded on an Annual Contract basis, Semi-annual contract, Multi-year contract, or for a contract of less than five months. These percentages are based on Interflex’s most current bid data. Where did this data come from? Interflex has been collecting foodservice bids from the top K-12 school districts and cooperatives throughout the country for the past eight years. We have compiled all of this information into our online database called AwardedBids. This allows us to track trends in the foodservice industry, pinpoint important foods and their attributes, and help manufacturers, brokers, distributors, school districts, and cooperatives achieve their goals.AwardedBids For more information on our AwardedBids database or any of the information found in this document, please contact us at (800) 293-2909.AwardedBids
