Elements of integration in opinion of municipalities: tariffs; tickets system; distribuction; timetables; Information; transportation research; promotion; modal split; access to market; adjustment of road traffic and control organization of a road and rail hub; regulations for passengers; quality of the service of transport.

Bodies involved in integration: Local authorities in Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot; Local authorities of smaller cities and communities around Tricity; Marshal of Pomorskie voivodeship; The Tricity Commuter Train Authority (Szybka Kolej Miejska w Trójmieście).

Steps of integration of public transport in Tricity 1991 First attempt to establish an association of the municipalities of Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot and to set up a local public transport provider securing an integrated service in the area covered by the minicipalities. Because of a political barrier (strong union opposition in one company) only Gdynia and five neighbouring municipalities was established ZKM Gdynia - local scale public transport integrator.

Steps of integration of public transport in Tricity 1996 The second attempt was made by municipalities in Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot and SKM. They prepared feasibility study, in which e-ticket was identified as a tool to integrate fares and tickets of the local and regional transport services. There was no agreement from trade union.

Steps of integration of public transport in Tricity 2000 Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot and Wejherowo and SKM organised the tender for finding an operator for e-ticet’s system. The project was temporarily abandoned because of fiscal differences between local public transport and SKM.

But because of fiscal problem it was not possible to integrate the fare and ticket systems (including SKM) by electronic card. New opition - practical integration should based on paper ticket, as superstructure over the systems of ZKM Gdańsk, ZKM Gdynia, MZK Wejherowo and SKM.
