1 Human Body Project Respiratory System
By: Andrea Rojas  Honors Biology Period 3

2 Structure of the Respiratory System
-The respiratory system is made up of mainly the mouth, nose, throat, larynx, trachea, bronchi, the lungs and the diaphragm. - The respiratory system has two different sections, both an UPPER respiratory tract and a LOWER respiratory tract.

3 Where are each organs located?
Upper Respiratory Tract Lower Respiratory Tract -The nose, throat, and larynx are each located in the upper part of the respiratory system. -The lungs, bronchi, and trachea are located in the lower part of the respiratory system.

4 Function The main function of the respiratory system is to allow oxygen in the blood and dispose of carbon dioxide. Oxygen enters through the nose and mouth, it then goes through the larynx and then to the trachea also know as the windpipe entering the lower respiratory tract. The oxygen then flows into the lungs through the bronchi, each bronchi leads to each lung. The diaphragm contracts moving the oxygen into the blood with the help of the alveoli, and then it relaxes and releases carbon dioxide.

5 Individual Functions Something Smells ! 
The nose plays an important part in the respiratory system, it’s not only mean to smell you know. The nose helps clean the air you breathe in, and it moistens the air if its too dry or warms it if its too cold. Apart from passing food to your stomach, the throat or pharynx allows for air to get to your lungs. The larynx or voice box is an opening inside the throat that’s closes out food when needed and allows fresh air in for your lungs.

6 Continued… Moving to lower respiratory tract… the trachea is a the organ that carries the air breathed in from the throat all the way to the lungs. The air from the trachea is then followed into the bronchi which are two different tubes each leading into the two lungs. After all the traveling the diaphragm finally processes the oxygen allowing for it to get to the blood all while also releasing carbon dioxide from the body!

Germs may be directly breathed in by lungs Breathed in food, liquid, vomit, or any fluid by mouth SYMPTOMS: Cough green mucus or yellow Fever Shortness of breath Chills Confusion Headache Loss of appetite Chest pain Excess sweating

Oxygen Therapy Breathing treatment IS IT CURABLE??? Yes, it is but even though most people get over it, almost 40, ,000 people die each year!

Our lungs diffuse oxygen into our blood; it is the lungs main job. Carbon dioxide is extracted by the diaphragm, while taking in oxygen. The respiratory system is made up of two parts the UPPER and LOWER tract. All the parts of the respiratory system are nose, throat, larynx, lungs, bronchi, and trachea. The nose helps clean the air you breathe in, the pharynx allows for air to get to your lungs, and the larynx or voice box is an opening inside the throat . The trachea carries the air breathed in from the throat all the way to the lungs, and the bronchi are two different tubes each leading into the two lungs. The diaphragm processes the oxygen allowing for it to get to the blood all while also releasing carbon dioxide. In each lungs there are bronchi each containing little alveolus that look like grapes. When the air filled with oxygen enters the alveolus it is released into the capillaries and into the blood. The respiratory system is what helps our blood be rich in oxygen and free of carbon dioxide.
