PredictionPage numberConfirmed or Disproved They will run out of food sometime soon. Clues: food is running low and a drought means less food. 4

Sometimes our predictions happen and sometimes they don’t. When they happen the way we predict we call that being confirmed. When they don’t happen we call that disproved.
17
I am going to read Chapter 3 aloud. I will follow the steps of prediction on my Predicting Strategy Card. I will stop after each page to ask myself what will happen next, and then make a prediction. I will also make a final prediction at the end of the chapter and write it down. Let’s listen to pages 8 and 9.

At the end of the passage I read today, I predicted that Pa would leave for the Ford ranch to go get a new cow. After reading on to see what happened next, I found out that my prediction was confirmed. Pa sis indeed leave. He rode away on Prince, his horse. So what I predicted would happen actually did happen. Now I’m going to continue recording the predictions that I made and if they are confirmed or not, as I read the story. This prediction was confirmed, so I’ll put “confirmed” on my chart.
29
Were any of your predictions confirmed? Can you give me a new prediction for today’s passage?
30
Do you think Prairie Belle is responsible enough to be left alone on the prairie?
