TRAINING OBJECTIVES TASK: Conduct M16 qualification IAW FM 3-23.35,
FB REG , AND DIVISION REG CONDITIONS: Given an M16, one 25 meter target and 18/40 rounds of ammunition in a tactical environment. STANDARDS: Without assistance, the firer will zero and qualify, then engage the target in the prone supported, prone unsupported and kneeling position; achieving at least 26 hits IOT qualify.

MISSION 82nd STB WILL CONDUCT AN M16 ZERO/QUALIFICATION RANGE ON 12 NOV O8 IN ORDER TO PREPARE TROOPERS FOR FUTURE OPERATIONS IN OEF/OIF AND TO ENSURE TROOPERS ARE PROFICIENT WITH THEIR ASSIGNED WEAPON.

RANGE OPERATIONS CONCEPT OF THE OPERATION (RNG 59/QUAL RANGE)
The range will be conducted in five phases: Range Set-up Familiarization Fire ( Night Fire/ Limited visibility) Qualification Fire Range Clean-up and Closure Night Fire

Concurrent Training At the Range Task: Test Proficiency Examination
Conditions: Given an M16, dummy ammunition and a range Standards: IAW FM , Soldiers must demonstrate proper techniques for the following tasks: Perform general disassembly and assembly, Identify and perform proper sight picture, identify targets, load, unload, and place the weapon on SAFE. Apply immediate action Other training – Remedial PMI as needed on marksmanship fundamentals for those requiring to fire qualification tables again. CTT Tasks- Target engagement Techniques 11

Safety Safety is the number one priority during this live fire exercise Firers MUST ensure they are engaging targets with the appropriate ammo, all ammo is expended prior to moving off the firing line, all firers will clear weapons prior to moving off the firing line, all weapons remain on SAFE when not actively engaging the targets. ABSOLUTELY NO HORSE-PLAY will be tolerated on the range at any time All personnel will wear eye/hearing protection when utilizing live ammo and will maintain their IBAs with plates and collars while on the range Two CLS qualified personnel will be on the Range with CLS bags Designated CASEVAC vehicle will be on-site with a strip map from the range directly to WOMACK AMC Firers will ensure that they maintain their weapons pointed down range while conducting remedial actions and immediate actions for malfunctions.

Implement Controls HOW TO SUPERVISE CONTROL EFFECTIVE Fratricide Negligent Discharge/ Events resulting in Paratroopers losing life, limb, or eye-sight Handling Ammo M L All firers will be briefed on range ROE, respective sectors, proper movement techniques, and safe weapon handling for weapons. Firers will ensure weapons are on SAFE when not actively engaging the TGT. Firers will clear their weapons prior to moving off the firing line. Firers will be aware of other firers at all times. Absolutely NO HORSEPLAYING will be tolerated anywhere on the ranges. Firers will lock and load ONLY on the command. Firers will be instructed on proper clearing procedures and will clear their weapons prior to exiting firing line. Firers will wear eye protection and maintain their IBAs at all times. Firers will utilize hearing protection when using live ammo. All weapons will remain on SAFE when not engaging the TGT. Firers will know the location of MEDEVAC vehicle. Firers will only receive ammo from the ammo point OIC will ensure all firers are briefed, understand, and adhere to ROE, sectors of fire, movement techniques, and proper weapons handling. OIC will maintain C2 of firers, will ensure all safety measures are enforced. Firers will ensure weapons are put on SAFE and maintained in a safe position. OIC will manage when their Paratroopers lock and load their respective weapons. OIC will ensure firers are in the correct uniform for the duration of the range execution. All weapons will be checked before leaving the firing line. MEDEVAC vehicle will be on-site & will have strip map from range to Womack AMC. Firers will draw ammo from the Ammo NCOIC. Firers will draw, account for, and disseminate ammo to their firers. NCOIC will conduct a thorough shakedown upon ENDEX to ensure firers do not possess any brass or ammo. OIC/NCOIC, RSO will ensure all safety measures are being enforced and OIC is maintaining positive C2 of the firers. OIC/NCOIC will ensure each lane has one firers at one time. . OIC/NCOIC/RSO will ensure safety measures are in-place & safety violations are not occurring All leaders will ensure that they are operating in a responsible, alert, and safety-conscious manner OIC/NCOIC, RSO will ensure only firers are drawing ammo from the Ammo NCOIC, that the appropriate quantity of ammo is being drawn, Yes

Determine overall mission/task risk level after controls are implemented (circle one) K. Risk Decision Authority Weapons Malfunction Vehicle Accidents Dehydration/Hot WX Injuries/ Inclement weather conditions L Fires will conduct immediate actions a for weapon malfunctions. If that fails they will conduct remedial action All vehicles will be properly PMCSed prior to movement. All vehicles will have an alert TC IAW DIV PAM All vehicles will maintain posted speed limit signs and maintain appropriate distance between vehicles. All vehicles will transport no more than the maximum authorized number of personnel (i.e. LMTVs 12). All Paratroopers will wear an ACH or ballistic helmet if traveling in a military vehicle. All personnel will have 2 full quarts of water on their FLC/IBV or a Camelback. Paratroopers will wear appropriate clothing in layers down-grade if necessary according to outside weather. Drivers will drive and brake more cautiously in the event of inclement weather. Firers will ensure that they maintain their weapons pointed down range while fixing malfunctions Leadership will ensure that only drivers who possess a current and valid driver’s license will operate the vehicles. All drivers and TCs will be given a convoy and safety brief prior to movement. Key leadership will ensure that their Paratroopers have been briefed on the appropriate uniform when traveling in a military vehicle and only the authorized number of passengers are being transported in each vehicle. Firers will ensure they are hydrating during the execution of the range. CLS bags with IVs and designated MEDEVAC vehicle will be on-site if needed. OIC will ensure adjustments are made and forecasted WX are checked prior to training. OIC and NCOIC will ensure only an Amorer handles the weapon system if remedial actions fails to work. TCs will supervise their drivers to ensure they are alert and adhering to traffic laws. SL will ensure soldiers are conducting PMCS to standard. Key leaders will ensure soldiers understand the convoy brief and the driving limitations on post. Firers will ensure their Paratroopers are drinking water and watching for hot WX injury symptoms, Soldiers who were previous hot weather casualties will be monitored . OIC/NCOIC will monitor heat index and adjust training accordingly. OIC will ensure that Paratrooper safety and training benefits are not compromised due to inclement weather.
