3 TO FULFILL THIS MISSION, THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR EYE FOUNDATION:  ANNUALLY INVITES ELIGIBLE INVESTIGATORS TO SUBMIT APPLICATIONS FOR OPHTHALMOLOGY RESEARCH GRANTS FOR THE AWARD PERIOD WHICH NORMALLY RUNS FROM JULY 1 TO JUNE 30  SUPPORTS THE FOUNDATION OF THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF OPHTHALMOLOGY’S EYECARE AMERICA’S SENIORS EYECARE PROGRAM  SUPPORTS THE AAO’S PEDIATRIC OPHTHALMOLOGY/STRABISMUS SUBSPECIALTY AREA OF THE OPHTHALMIC NEWS AND EDUCATION (ONE®) NETWORK -- NAMED THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR EYE FOUNDATION, INC., PEDIATRIC OPHTHALMOLOGY EDUCATION CENTER IN PERPETUITY 3

4 ORIGIN AND HISTORY OF THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR EYE FOUNDATION, INC.  THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR EYE FOUNDATION, INC. WAS FOUNDED BY THE GRAND ENCAMPMENT OF KNIGHTS TEMPLAR IN 1955 AND INCORPORATED THE FOLLOWING YEAR  EARLIEST GOAL WAS TO CORRECT STRABISMUS OR “CROSSED EYES” IN CHILDREN 4

THE KTEF CO-SPONSORS THE ACADEMY’S EYECARE AMERICA PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDES EYE CARE AT NO COST TO THOSE WHO QUALIFY. THROUGH ITS ONLINE REFERRAL CENTER, THE SENIORS EYECARE PROGRAM OFFERS SEVERAL TYPES OF SERVICE BASED ON QUALIFICATIONS 17
