2. Week One  Introduction to topic  Understanding different perspectives – What does analyzing different perspectives allow us to do?  What do we already know about socioeconomic status? (KWL)

3. Week Two  Poverty  Students will examine statistics about poverty and reflect on them  Students will brainstorm and research stereotypes regarding poverty  Students will examine and analyze photographs  Students will study perspective change and use perspective change to understand poverty  Poverty in America vs. world

4. Week Three  Introduce literature circles  Students will connect topics and issues in their novels to current issues and events  Students will analyze socioeconomic inequality in their novels  Students will think critically about their novels and the issue of socioeconomic inequality

5. Week Four  Students will understand how socioeconomic status affects our society  Students will analyze the correlation between socioeconomic status and academic achievement  Students will find articles that relate to this topic

6. Week Five  Employment and income  Students will examine the consequences of socioeconomic status and family life  Students will analyze how health is affected by socioeconomic status

7. Week Six  What can we do?  Students will study current events in order to research topics regarding socioeconomic and education, family life, health, employment  Final project work and presentations -How it affects our lives -How it affects the world -What can we do to make changes?
