Introduction London is the capital of England. There are lots of monuments like BIG BEN, THE TOWER BRIDGE, BUCKINGHAM PALACE, ST PAUL’S CATHEDRAL…. Now, our presentation is about the most famous monuments.

Buckingham Palace This is Buckingham Palace: IT is the official residence of the British Queen in London. It’s the focal* point of the British people at times of joy,crisis and grief*. Saint Paul’s Cathedral - Saint Paul’s cathedral was destroyed in 1666. and was rebuilt by Christopher Wren in 1708. - This is the most visited cathedral in the heart of the city and the most majestic. - There are 528 steps* to get to the dome. - Londoners celebrate joyful events* like the wedding* of Prince Charles and Lady Diana. *Steps : des marches *Joyful events : heureux évènement *Wedding : mariage

BIG BEN Big Ben is the nickname for the big bell of the Clock Tower of the Palace of Westminster. The building faces the River Thames. The first bell was made in 1856. It was built in 1843-1859 by Charles BarryCharles Barry The Clock Tower has been renamed the Tower Elizabeth, in honor of the Queen for her diamond jubilee (June 2012).
