2 Why a Video Acronym Glossary? We all use acronyms on a daily basis in our conversations so we get to the point faster. But have you ever been in a situation where you just don’t know what the others are talking about? And you just don’t want to stop them because they’re sure you know what they mean? Well then, a Video Acronym Glossary (VAG) could be useful to understand what we at Video Product Management are talking about

OMG WDIM? Oh My Gosh What does it mean?!

4 Video Display Acronyms On a very general topic, for video display quality you’ll often hear about these acronyms (and these ones are not only in the Arkadin Video Product line, they can be used in real life too!) : HD: High Definition (1920x1080 pixels) SD: Standard Definition (720x480 pixels) CIF: Common Intermediate Format (352x288 pixels) FPS: Frames Per Second (the more the better) And these are the video connectors to display images on a monitor (and they also are used in real life): VGA: Video Graphics Array DVI: Digital Visual Interface (better display than VGA) HDMI: High Definition Multimedia Interface And for the Camera Control, you can find these: PTZ: Pan Tilt Zoom (Pan left or right, Tilt up or down, Zoom in or out) This is the type of camera you buy for a VidyoRoom FECC: Far End Camera Control VGA DVI HDMI

5 Video Codecs and Protocols Acronyms And here are some more technical terms used specifically for video environments: CODEC: COde-DECode (and yes, it is also an acronym!!) AVC: Advanced Video Coding SVC: Scalable Video Coding (these are the adaption of the video signal in real-time to ensure the image fluidity and quality) H264 / H265 / H323: video compression format used for the distribution of video content G722 is an audio codec H239 is the protocol used to share documents

6 Vidyo Acronyms In the Vidyo world we very often use this kind of acronyms: PF : Platform (and not Provisioning Form) STD: Standard WL: White Label GW: GateWay DC: Data Center ( and not Wahsington DC) Arkadin is running 2 platforms The Direct Customer Platform STD PF – The main Portal is in France – Routers and Gateways (GW) are components that transfer videoconferencing from one endpoint to another are in different DC (Data Centers) The Partner Platform (aka. White Label) dedicated to resellers, distributors, Vidyo leads and some TELCOs (NTT for instance) WL PF – The main Portal is in the USA – Routers and Gateways (GW) are in France, Japan, USA Partner Platform Infrastructure locations Direct Customer Platform Infrastructure locations

7 BlueJeans Acronyms In the BlueJeans world, here are some commonly used acronyms BJN: BlueJeans BYOD: Bring Your Own Device BlueJeans provided by Arkadin are pilots launched in NORAM (Q2 2014) and EMEA (Q3 2014) Self service highly interoperable virtual room for all users even if they do not have any Video endpoint (Web Browser)

8 Legacy Video Acronyms Inherited from the Legacy Video world: VMS: Video Managed Services AVMS: Attended Video Managed Services VMR: Virtual Meeting Room MCU: Multipoint Control Unit (device to bridge videoconferencing connections) DMA: Polycom RealPresence Distributed Media Application (DMA) CMA: Polycom Converged Management Application CMA Desktop RMX: Polycom® RealPresence® Collaboration Server 1500, 2000 and 4000 Series CUCM: Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CallManager) CTS: Cisco TelePresence System RP or RTP: Real (Tele)Presence

9 Arkadin Processes Acronyms And here are some more acronyms that are recurrent in the video product environment: RMA: Return Merchandise Authorization (for hardware delivery purpose) NSBP: Non Standard Bid Process (when it’s outside the generic process) CAB: Change Advisory Board SOF: Service Order Form PLM: Product LifeCycle Management VaaS: Video as a Service

10 Technical Terms Plus, for those who are not comfortable with some conferencing technical acronyms, here are some more: MPLS: MultiProtocol Label Switching (data-carrying mechanism in computer networking) WebRTC: Web Real Time Communication API: Application Programming Interface (specifies how some software components should interact with each other.) FQDN: Fully Qualified Domain Name AMG: Audio Manager (for integration of Audio in the Video products) ISDN: Integrated Services for Digital Network (digital transmission of voice, video and data services) TCP/IP: Transmission Control Protocol/ Internet Protocol GA: General Availability (not Global Account)
