MAKING ENDS MEET GRADING RUBRIC STUDENTS: This is an exact copy of the sheet I’ll be using to grade your project. Use this as a tool to assess the strengths and weaknesses of your final project! POWERPOINT SLIDESHOW: (90 points: Each slide is worth 5 points). Be sure that the information on each slide is fully explained! You MUST document all of your research. Provide the link to your information in the note section of each slide! Spelling and grammar must be correct on every slide. I will subtract one point per slide for these types of errors so proofread carefully! _______ ABOUT ME SLIDE – answered each question fully. (18 points) ______ Adjusted totals are “in the black” (1 point) EXCEL BUDGET PIE GRAPH: (15 points) ______Added a personalized header/footer (1 point) ______ Correctly created a Pie Graph illustrating their monthly budget. (Worth 14 points). UNIT STANDARDS: This unit was aimed specifically at numerous state and national learning standards. Among them are: Interpret information from a variety of career assessments to identify career interests and abilities. Apply a decision-making model and use career assessment information regarding interests and abilities to choose a career Gather, interpret, analyze, and refine data contained in symbols, pictures, charts, blueprints, and/or graphs. Analyze and synthesize information and data from multiple sources. Practice and demonstrate presentation skills using a variety of media and interpretive data. Estimate costs and prepare a detailed budget for a school-based or work- based project. Report the costs of various components of a budget and adjust budget items as needed. Demonstrate effective use of a variety of on-line technological resources. Demonstrate ability to adapt to different software applications, comparing and contrasting specific functions and applying them to different projects. Use of mathematical analysis to pose questions, seek answers, and develop solutions. Applying mathematics in real-world settings. UNIT OBJECTIVES: By the end of this project I will be assessing whether or not you met the following objectives: Students will determine how much money they have (based on entry-level job of their choice) and how much they can afford to spend. Students will become familiar with creating a personal budget. Students will create pie graphs and use these for drawing conclusions and making figure comparisons Students will successfully create a personal budget in Microsoft Excel and learn how to manipulate figures to obtain “break-even” analysis. Understand how to evaluate budget alternatives and the “opportunity cost” of their decisions. Present and substantiate their budget analysis using PowerPoint and Excel.
