Receiving Tenure All teachers new to the district must participate in a mentorship program during the first year; You must be evaluated as “effective” or “highly effective” in at least two of the three years following mentorship.

Maintaining Tenure You must maintain a rating of no less than “effective”; You may be subject to tenure charges after two consecutive annual ratings below “effective”;

Corrective Action Plan After an annual evaluation rating below “effective,” a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) will be developed by you and your supervisor to address deficiencies outlined in the evaluation.

Teacher Practice We will cover the student achievement piece in another PD. Today, let’s talk about the 85% part of your evaluation: TEACHER PRACTICE (long and short observations)

Observation Requirements NOTE: these are only minimum requirements; you can expect to see supervisors in your rooms much more than three times per school year.

Observation Rubric A number of evaluation rubrics have been approved for use in districts across NJ. We are using the rubric developed by Focal Point. You will be provided with a copy of the rubric at an additional PD in the near future.
