Blue Day – 2/4/2015 Gold Day – 2/5/2015

 Find out the measure of angles, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. 50  1 2 3 5 4 7 6

 Last day of 4 th Six weeks is 2/13/2015  2/16/2015 is a student holiday  Transversals Unit test 2/17/2015 & 1/18/2015  Transversals Unit  Properties of parallel lines  Review the specials angles transversals make

 A transversal is a line that crosses over or intersects 2 coplanar lines at distinct points

 When the transversal cuts the 2 lines, it forms 8 angles  Remember, only 2 unique angle measures are formed!

 Corresponding angles lie on the same side of the transversal and in corresponding positions  Corresponding angles are congruent when the transversal cuts across parallel lines  Ex: <1 and <6; <2 and <5; <4 and < 7; <3 and <8 2 1 3 4 56 8 7

 Alternate exterior angles are outside the two lines on opposite sides of the transversal  Alternate exterior angles are congruent when the transversal cuts across parallel lines  Ex: <1 and <8; <2 and <7 2 1 3 4 5 6 87

 We didn’t talk about this one, but what do you think it is?  Alternate means?  Interior means?  Congruent or Supplementary? 2 1 3 6 87 5 4

 Same-side interior angles are between the parallel lines on the same side of the transversal  Same-side interior angles are supplementary when the transversal cuts across parallel lines 2 1 34 5 6 87 Ex: <4 and <6 <3 and <5

 We didn’t talk about this one, but what do you think it is?  Alternate means?  Interior means?  Congruent or Supplementary? 2 34 5 6 8 1 7

 What do our notes say?  Are they congruent or supplementary?

 Group off with preassigned groups  Think about what topic you are assigned.  Make a poster to hang up to help you and your peers remember the angles that are made with a transversal and set of parallel lines.  Grades are given based on rubric.

1) m  1 = 50°. Find m  2 and m  3. 2) Solve for y. 1 2 3 7y - 13 3y -7
