Definition Fromkin and Rodman (1978: 282), “jargon is words used to describe the special terms of a professional or trade group. According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, jargon is defined as “the language used for a particular activity or by a particular group of people”

Who uses Jargon? Jargon is commonly used by groups that have a similar interest, like trades and/or professions. However, it can be used by people involved in sports or other casual groups.

Function 1)Jargon is a useful, time-saving shorthand for the people inside a professional field. 2)Jargon can help to identify members of the professional group. 3)Jargon has considerable utility as euphemism.

Why do we need to use jargon carefully? Jargon is precise and saving time. Using jargon can be fun. Using jargon can be confusing. Using jargon can leave someone feeling excluded from a conversation.
