8  Experience vs. Education  Who’s talking? Introduction of the Investing in America’s Future A Blueprint for Transforming Career and Technical Education from the Secretary of Education 2012  To educate our way to a better economy, educators, public officials, and policymakers must ensure that every student in our country graduates from high school prepared for college and a successful career. Yet that is not enough. If America is to once again have the highest proportion of college graduates in the world by the end of the decade, every American should have access to at least one year of higher education or postsecondary training at an affordable cost. A world-class education system that provides high-quality job-training opportunities will reduce skills shortages, spur business growth, encourage new investment and hiring, spark innovation, and promote continued economic growth. The Future: Where are we Going?

9  National vs. State –  Idaho we hear there is a need to have experience with education a shorter term education with experience Nationally only education and gov./non profits place less value the bachelors degree. However the suggestion here is that more advance degree is needed not less. (The Chronicle of Higher Education and American Public Media’s, December, 2012.)  One third of employers in this study place more value on today’s four – year degree vs. That of five years ago.  Idaho Campaign of “Go On” change to “1, 2, 4 or more” suggests that Idaho needs arer different.  We have to know how to differentiate the information between state and federal, but the message needs to be on the same page Future – Being part of the conversation

Representative Raquel Longoria shared with me this information - Isn’t every job a STEM job in some fashion; Help students and support systems understand the importance of STEM; Interactive classrooms = soft skills.
